Friday, February 13, 2026, was a day of grace and deep joy for the family of the Sisters of Our Lady of Sorrows. On this occasion, Sr. Sheuly Das renewed her religious vows, reaffirming before God and the community her commitment to consecration and service in religious life.Present at the celebration were the Delegate Sr. Annamaria Iannetti, the religious community of Lafayette, and the students of the Holy Family School, who participated with enthusiasm and reverence in this meaningful moment of consecrated life. Their presence made the communal dimension of the celebration even more profound, offering a visible sign of a vocation lived and shared within the Church.
The Meaning of the Renewal of Religious Vows
The renewal of religious vows represents an important milestone in the spiritual journey of a consecrated woman. It is the moment when the religious sister renews her “Yes” to the Lord, reaffirming her choice to live the Gospel through the evangelical counsels of poverty, chastity, and obedience. For the Sisters of Our Lady of Sorrows, this gesture carries an even deeper meaning because it expresses fidelity to the charism handed down by Blessed Elisabetta Renzi, the founder of the Congregation. Her life was entirely dedicated to the Christian education of young people and to the integral formation of the human person, a mission that continues today through the educational works of the Institute.
The renewal of vows thus becomes a sign of trust in God’s call and a willingness to generously continue the educational and apostolic mission of the OLS.
A Celebration Shared with the Community
The celebration of Sr. Sheuly Das’s renewal of vows was lived in a spirit of prayer, gratitude, and communion. The participation of the students of Holy Family School made the moment even more meaningful. The students shared in the joy of the religious community, joining in prayer and expressing affection and gratitude for Sr. Sheuly’s vocational witness. This encounter between religious life and the educational experience represents one of the most distinctive aspects of the mission of the OLS.
The Sisters of Our Lady of Sorrows community in Lafayette, Louisiana, is an active part of the Congregation’s presence in the United States. Here the sisters serve at Holy Family School, guiding students along a path of human, cultural, and Christian formation, in harmony with the Constitutions of the Institute, which place Jesus at the center of the search for truth and virtue. The participation of the students in the celebration strengthened the connection between consecrated life and the educational apostolate, showing how the witness of the sisters continues to be a meaningful presence in the growth and formation of young people.
A Gift for the Church and the World
The renewal of vows by Sr. Sheuly Das is a sign of hope and fidelity for the entire ecclesial community. It is the testimony of a “Yes” that continues over time, renewed each day through community life, educational service, and the apostolic mission of the Sisters of Our Lady of Sorrows. As a religious family, we thank the Lord for the gift of her vocation and for the daily witness of faith, dedication, and love that she offers to the community. Her choice of life continues to be a concrete sign of God’s presence in history and an invitation for everyone to live their own vocation with trust and generosity.
