1st Profession in Zimbabwe

Makorokoto!!! Congratulations to Angela and Lydia for their 1st religious profession!!!

August 13, 2022, Chegutu, Zimbabwe.

The Sisters of Our Lady of Sorrows in Zimbabwe, with many friends and relatives of Angela and Lydia, got together in the schoolyard, where a stage and several tents were ready to welcome them for this important celebration.

After about three years spent in Louisiana, USA to complete the postulancy and the novitiate stages of religious training, Angela and Lydia came back to Zimbabwe for their first Profession and their ministry.

A beautiful sunny day was the backdrop to a ceremony enriched by dances, songs, and rituals in which Angela and Lydia making the vows of poverty, chastity and obedience became sisters, the newest members of the Congregation of the Sisters of our Lady of Sorrows.

The Archbishop of Harare, Mons. Robert Ndlovu, was the main celebrant,  Fr. Felipe Fabiane, the secretary of the Apostolic Nuncio, Fr Maxwell Jaya, the Pastor and Fr. Nigel Tsuro, the associate pastor of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and other priests: Fr. Patrick Ngwenya, and Fr. Cephas Shambare,  concelebrated helped by many altar servers and choir members.  Other volunteers helped with decorations, preparing for the celebration space and the meal afterward.  The children of the Holy Childhood Association and of Mariele Children’s Home provided with songs and well-rehearsed plays and added enthusiasm and delight.

The joy was visible and very evident not only on the faces of Sr Angela and Sr Lydia but also on their relatives, OLS sisters, and many friends.

At the end of the beautiful day the two sisters, after a visit to their families, were ready to begin their ministry: Sr Lydia at the Our Lady of Sorrows Primary School in Chegutu and Sr Angela at the Mariele Children’s Home in Mhondoro.

Our best wishes to both of them with the blessings of our Foundress Bl. Elisabetta Renzi.
