Open House in Gazirvita, Mymensingh, Bangladesh
Gazirvita, December 21, 2022
This was a beautiful day for the Congregation of the Sisters of Our Lady of Sorrows! A new OLS community was welcomed in Gazirvita today with the Blessing of the new convent. The Bishop of Mymensingh, the Superior General, the pastor, several priests and sisters, and many local people participated in the blessing of our first house in the Mymensingh Diocese, St. Joseph Convent.
The solemn Mass was presided by Most Rev. Paul Ponen Kubi CSC, Bishop of Mymensingh. Mother General, Carla Bertani, and the Treasurer General, Sr. Mirella Ricci from Italy, were present at the ceremony.
We give thanks to God for this new beginning which gives everyone hope. We are grateful to the Rev. Bishop Ponen Kubi CSC for inviting us to minister in his diocese, and to the Claretian priests from India who are serving in Gazirvita parish for all their help and support. A big thank you and much gratitude to Mother Carla Bertani, her Council, and Sr. Mirella for their support and attention given to this new mission.
Mother Carla reminded the three sisters in the new community, that they are here to serve the people under the guidance of the bishop and in collaboration with the Pastor. She thanked the sisters for their ‘yes’ to ministering in this new diocese and for the enthusiasm with which they made themselves available. She asked the people to support and take care of the sisters. Mother Carla thanked the Chairman of the area who promised to help with the development of the roads that leads to the church, the convent, and the school.
May our Foundress, Blessed Elisabetta Renzi, guide and protect this new community.
